The story follows a scientific expedition team sponsored by a major pharmaceutical company. They are on a mission to find the "Blood Orchid," a rare flower that blooms only once every seven years. The team believes this flower contains a chemical that can grant biological immortality by acting as a "fountain of youth" for human cells.
The journey quickly turns into a fight for survival. Upon arriving in Borneo during the dangerous monsoon season, the team is forced to hire Bill Johnson, a rugged boat captain, to take them upriver. After their boat is destroyed in a waterfall accident, the group finds themselves stranded in the heart of the jungle. They soon discover that the local anacondas have grown to monstrous sizes and achieved enhanced speed and strength due to years of ingesting the Blood Orchid.
