If the fob lights up but the bike doesn't respond, you may be outside the 30-second window after the ignition is turned off. Try turning the ignition on and then off again.
If your remote stops responding (often after a battery change or if buttons were pressed over 256 times out of range), use this procedure to re-pair it:

If you arm the alarm more than one minute after turning off the ignition, you must hold Button 1 for longer than one second. The system enters a 15-second "activation phase" where no alarm will be triggered. After this, it is fully active.
